list of the 200 most impactful companies around the world. \u201cThese are public companies that are quite large \u2014 at least $1 billion in market value,\u201d says Thiessen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-926c782 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"926c782\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Then, Thiessen and his team look at data supplied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msci.com\/\">MSCI<\/a>\u2014an investment research firm that ranks companies based on revenues contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. If there are companies on the MSCI list that didn\u2019t make the cut with Sustainalytics, they\u2019re added to our master list.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-cee6d79 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default parallax_section_no qode_elementor_container_no\" because there are going to be some companies that are really high impact but might have had some controversies,\u201d says Thiessen. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element href=\"https:\/\/www.msci.com\/documents\/10199\/acbe7c8a-a4e4-49de-9cf8-5e957245b86b#:~:text=Orange%3A%20Indicates%20that%20a%20company,involved%20in%20any%20major%20controversies.\">colour-coding system<\/a> for such controversies, ranging from green (no recent controversies) to red (one or more very severe controversies), which we take into account before making a final call.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-15eb15f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default parallax_section_no qode_elementor_container_no\" href=\"https:\/\/genuscap.com\/do-you-know-your-investment-portfolios-net-impact\/\">net impact<\/a> for each of the companies included in our impact investing portfolios; some impact investments, like <a href=\"https:\/\/genuscap.com\/inside-our-impact-portfolio-why-we-invest-in-vestas-wind-systems\/\">Vestas Wind Systems<\/a>, rank closer to 100%.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section software, along with several financial models, and our team ranks each of the impact investments based on factors such as profitability, company growth and stock price momentum. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to maximize the weighted average ranking in the portfolio,\u201d Thiessen says. \u201cWith 200 companies to consider, I then go in, once the optimization software has met all those constraints, and select the companies for approval by the CIO.\u201d\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e3ed695 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>At the start of each month, we do a full rebalance of our impact portfolio funds, following the release of fresh data from Sustainalytics and MSCI.<\/p><p>And given the dynamic nature of today\u2019s economy, we are constantly evaluating and rebalancing the impact portfolios. \u201cSometimes there is something that\u2019s happened in the news or something political that the software hasn\u2019t taken into account, so we need to address that,\u201d says Thiessen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section to figure out how to respond with its investment strategy. respond to the pandemic within our impact portfolios. \u201cOur team talked a lot, and we decided that we were going to focus more on healthcare and technology,\u201d says Thiessen.<\/p><p>Investments that reflect this shift include Abiomed and Regeneron in the healthcare space \u2014 both of which rated over 80% in their net impact scores \u2014 and technology companies Zoom, Nvidia, ServiceNow and Citrix Systems.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-78b4769 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"78b4769\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But no matter what\u2019s happening with the economy, we also dive deep into the quality of each company we invest in \u2014 and the variability within each sector. \u201cDepending on the sector that you\u2019re in, depending on the country that you\u2019re in, we weigh those factors differently,\u201d says Thiessen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As powerful as
