Ian Lusher is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Genus Capital Management, bringing more than 20 years of experience across the financial services industry. He specializes in portfolio analysis and construction, long‑term financial and estate planning, retirement strategies, leveraged investing, and alternative investment solutions—always with a focus on aligning client portfolios with their goals and values.
Ian’s career spans a wide range of advisory and portfolio management roles, beginning as a licensed assistant with an independent broker and progressing through positions at BMO, MD Management, CI Private Counsel, and HSBC Private Wealth Services (Canada) Inc. His breadth of experience informs his disciplined, client‑centred approach to managing complex portfolios and designing resilient, purpose‑driven investment strategies.

Wayne Wachell co-founded Genus Capital Management in 1989 and serves as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer. He oversees Genus’ equity research and investment strategy and co-manages both equity and fixed-income portfolios.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1985, Wayne holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (1977) and an M.B.A. (1980) from the University of Alberta. He began his investment career at the Alberta Treasury in 1978 as an investment analyst, later becoming a partner and fixed income and equity portfolio manager at M.K. Wong & Associates. Before founding Genus, he also managed fixed-income portfolios at TELUS (formerly Alberta Government Telephone).
He is a past president of the Vancouver Society of Financial Analysts (1992–1993) and is frequently featured in business media, providing insights on markets and the economy.
